Storming Reviews for The Tempest.
Easter weekend saw six shows of The Tempest, directed by Zoe Seaton, sell out and review have been incredible. Creation Theatre are staging more shows 18 – 25th April, as a waiting list for tickets gets longer.
It began as an experiment – a way for two companies, Big Telly and Creation Theatre to keep their actors working and getting paid and to play with new platforms and formats. Big Telly and Zoe are not strangers to using game dynamics within their theatre games – the challenge was to get it online and share it with audiences that were essentially isolated from each other. And to make everyone feel connected. That they were sharing a unique and live experience. It worked better than anyone imagined.
The story unfolded beautifully, with actors playing their hearts out in separate rooms all over the place, creating sound effects and visual backdrops that transported audiences to Ariels world and Prospero’s island – drawing the audiences into another world.
We have loved this experience so much. Already underway is an online adaptation of 2018’s Operation Elsewhere. Shows will be twice daily from the 2nd – 4th of May. Tickets available via Creation’s website https://www.creationtheatre.co.uk/book-shows/
For now, enjoy the reviews of ‘The Tempest’.
