Participatory theatre. Quite the mouthful.
For us, it’s theatre for everyone. Sometimes theatre needs to move, innovate and go and find new audiences. With our experience in site responsive theatre and project work, we take theatre into streets, empty shops, busy markets, working businesses and not so traditional venues. We love the stage, but we love playing in unexpected places.
At one level, it’s audience development. We think everybody should be able to experience creative and theatre work in their day to day lives – sometimes where they least expect it.
A good deal of the participatory work is about directly engaging people in creative activity – workshops, storytelling or making. But sometimes, just creating an extraordinary moment in the middle of an ordinary day is what we love.
