Cloonty Trails

Cloonty Trails

Three audio trails located in the Cloonty townland (Bushmills, Co. Antrim) developed with farmers, older people and primary schools.

Two walking trails (starting from Ballylough Living History Trust, 53 Castlecatt Road, Bushmills, BT57 8TN) and one driving trail (starting from Bushmills village).

The Clunties (driving trail)

Starting at Bushmills Distillery heading out of Bushmills continue along Main Street and onto the Castlecatt Road. Turn left onto Riverside Road, turn right onto Seneril Road, turn left onto Castlecatt Road, turn right onto Cozies Road and first left onto Haw Road, turn left onto Straid Road and the journey ends back where we started.

King of Trees

Starting at the front of the Main House, keep to the left of the lawn and take the first right and walk along the Ha Ha. Keep left then turn right and walk up into the Farm Yard. Turn left and keep going to the bottom of the hill and you’ll pass the Corn Stacks on our left. You’re now at St. Columb’s Rill. Come back up the path and into the Farm Yard. Your journey ends out through the gate next to the Hen House.

The Grey Lady

Starting from the back of the Main House, the Grey Lady will take you on a journey past the Castle of McQuillan ruins on your right, down towards the lake, and back up to the Main House.

This project has been supported by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland through the Cloonty Community Benefit Fund. With special thanks to the Ballylough Living History Trust.
