THE COLLEEN BAWN REVIVAL
BIG TELLY'S series of Irish Classics continues with a spirited revival of Dion Boucicault's The Colleen Bawn, the second production in the company's series of Irish classics, and follows hot-on-the-heels of the acclaimed Spring tour of The Playboy of the Western World ("a production rich in life's zest which laughs along with Synge's creations ... Seaton's love for the piece comes through, truly, madly deeply" The News Letter).
The Colleen Bawn is a timeless tale of love and intrigue across the classes, told by a duo of damsels, a jumble of gents and a parade of peasants - portrayed by a cast of Ireland's finest! This exciting production, full of action, spectacle and physical comedy, offers audiences across Ireland a rare chance to see one of the country's best-loved plays.
An arranged marriage, a secret wedding, a family crisis, a missing girl, mistaken identity, attempted murder, and, of course, a happy ending... The Colleen Bawn, directed by Zoë Seaton, opens at the Riverside Theatre, Coleraine this Autumn and tours across Ireland visiting a host of venues including the Burnavon Arts Centre in Cookstown, the Ardhowen Theatre in Enniskillen, the Market Place Theatre in Armagh, the ntl Studio in Belfast, Dunamaise Theatre in Portlaoise, the Garage Theatre in Monaghan and Friars Gate Theatre in Kilmallock.
